"Horrible Experience at Kindred Las Olas Long-Term Hospital"

It took me a while to write this review about Kindred Las Olas Fort Lauderdale Long-Term Hospital. My mom was supposed to be taken care of by this “doctor” when she was transferred there. But within two days, my mom’s health got worse, she was almost unconscious. I think the admitting nurse, who was 90 years old, and the doctor or his assistant didn’t do a good job when assessing her. They didn’t even notice that the chest tubes my mom came with were not connected to suction. It’s likely the staff didn’t know how to do it. Because of that, my mom got really sick due to lots of C02. I’m not a healthcare professional, but I’ve worked as a patient advocate for nearly 20 years, so I figured out what was wrong. When I talked to the doctor, he didn’t admit any fault, but instead blamed the previous hospital where my mom had been for two months. He said they shouldn’t have discharged my mom in her critical condition, but he should have known about her condition because they reviewed patients’ medical history before accepting them. Why didn’t he properly care for my mom? Why wasn’t she moved to the ICU? This horrible experience cost my mom her life, and the hospital staff even admitted this doctor didn’t care about his patients. Two more people - ICU nurse and another, also contributed to my mom’s death. My siblings and I will never forget what these people did. I've worked in healthcare for a long time, and this whole thing has made me lose trust in a lot of doctors. Speak up for your family members and don’t let doctors intimidate you. Writing this won't bring my beautiful mom back, but if you’re considering visiting this doctor or Kindred Las Olas, please think twice. For the rest of my life, I will tell people to avoid this place.
