" 'Rehab Hell': Patient's Nightmare Experience at State-Run Facility "

I had the unfortunate experience of having to stay at a state-run rehab facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. At this place, we were treated as less than human, often thought of as "hopeless junkies who were just going to relapse once we left." My roomate sadly suffered an overdose while in the program. This place just didn't value us as patients – we were disrespected and degraded, all because we were drug addicts trying to recover. The harshness compounded the sense of hopelessness and depression for making the life mistakes. The situation got worse when I alerted the staff that my roommate was coughing up blood and had to be put in quarantine. Instead of appreciation for the heads up, they responded by placing me in a 14-day lockdown in a 'quarantine house'. In this house, I was told to remain locked in or leave for good, knowing full well I was homeless and struggling to find a decent place. The living conditions were unbearable. For the initial five days, there was no hot water, shower head, common amenities, TV, cable connection – just nothing. Fresh air and socializing were just a dream. I wasn't even allowed to step out for a smoke. Meals seemed like a privilege – I had to plead for them daily. They even forgot to check on me for 24 hours when I first arrived in the quarantine house. Are you wondering how bad it really was? I have loads of footage of me in this house showing the harsh conditions and unjust treatment. It was like living in a kind of prison. And I assure you, these are not made-up stories. I can easily email it to anyone who might be interested. Just to break it down, I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy.
