"Writer Disappointed with Impersonal, Unkind Treatment at Anxiety Center"

I recently phoned the Stress and Anxiety Center to get help for my daughter, who's 12. Right away, I was put on voicemail. About an hour later, one of the owners finally came back to me. I tried to explain my daughter's struggles and why we needed their services. But the owner rudely interrupted me and said my daughter should go under the Baker Act - and this was just after a minute of talk! How could he make such a big assumption with only a minute of dialogue? I've worked in healthcare all my life. If my daughter needed to be Baker Act, I'd be the first to know. Kids her age often feel angry, confused, and emotional because of all the changes that puberty brings. The guy I spoke with shouldn't be giving therapy to anyone. He didn't bother to listen to my worries at all – just treated my kid like she was a nuisance who needed med. He promised that someone else would call me to set up an appointment. But after our call, I knew I didn't want any help from them. They never even called me back. That didn't shock me, though, because the guy had made it clear he thought my child would've been a bother. Think twice before you go to this place for therapy. There's zero kindness there.
