"Clinic Bills Patient Despite Promise: Helpful Staff, Untrustworthy Insurance Clerk"

As I write this, I am feeling upset and disappointed. I went to this clinic because I needed help. They looked at my insurance and I told them that even though I have insurance through my husband's plan, the deductible is really high. This means I would have to pay everything they charge before the insurance pays anything. I also let them know that I don't have a job right now. They told me I wouldn't get any bills and I would only have to pay what I could afford upfront. That's what I did - I paid what we agreed on. But now I got a bill. They charged my insurance $300 and I have to pay $175 of it. I don't know how to pay this. If I could afford a normal bill, I would have gone to a normal doctor. And I already paid upfront. When I called today, the person who originally told me not to worry about any bills answered. They said they couldn't do anything because the claim was already sent to the insurance. They even lied and said they never told me I wouldn't get any bills. I asked repeatedly what I could do, but they didn't care and just kept saying "there's nothing I can do." My insurance told me later that the provider could definitely cancel or change the claim. So, they lied about that too. I can't believe a place that's supposed to help people would cause more problems and stress. However, the doctor I saw was nice and helpful. The lady at the front desk was also nice. But the insurance person gave me false information and won't admit and correct their mistake. Someone who won't admit their mistakes and take responsibility should not be working here and hurting vulnerable people.
